Mercury Retrograde began on August 12th and will continue until September 5th 2017. On top of that, we will experience the eclipse on August 21st, the first one of this magnitude since June 8, 1918 and maybe the most important eclipse in North America for the next several hundred years.
Have you noticed and felt some extreme energy marinating and erupting everywhere the last few days, and it seems to be escalating and feels unstoppable. Family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, strangers and yes, even our furry pets are all experiencing a tremendous amount of disruption, emotion, surge of energy, or lack of energy. I have had several recent exchanges with people I know who have been feeling anxiety, fear and negativity out of nowhere and do not know what to do with it.
I am a trained yoga teacher, practice meditation, professional who works in the health arena, known optimist, and still the other day I simply wanted to pull my hair out, scream, flip the bird at my very unaware neighbors above who are stoners and walk like elephants above. I do yoga on my outside patio and they smoke and flick ashes and drop lighters in this space and have no clue about how I feel about these actions.
Who was this impatient aggravated person I had stepped into for a moment? What did I become? I burst out laughing. I AM human. AND, ah yes, Mercury is in retrograde. Where is my Mercury retrograde protection body suit?
About four times a year, planet Mercury is said to go retrograde. It moves in the opposite direction of its normal circuit in the skies over the Earth. This backwards movement is said to be an orbital illusion from our according to the heliocentric model. Mirage or not, astrologers believe that during this time, it has a huge effect on life here on the Earth plane. It is said that communication, technology, making big decisions can all go awry at this time. In astrology, Mercury governs communication, travel and learning. Basically, in a nut shell things may just not be what they seem, so pay close attention.
Mercury retrograde is blamed for everything from miscommunication to technological bugs, bad business deals, missed flights, mechanical issues with your car or even a broken washing machine. I myself have had my computer die, car break down and my cell phone once fell into a bath during retrograde!
At the same time, the news is growing more dramatic. Threats of war, white supremacists on the streets. By the way did anyone out there notice that the car that drove into protesters in Charlottesville, VA license plate was 1111.
If this is not a wake up call for humanity, I don’t know what is. Just saying!
But here is the thing. The most important. Some out there believe this is an awful time and the eclipse with mercury retrograde means the end of the world as we know it. I don’t buy into this. It’s just a time of things being unveiled and an impetus that we must change the way things have been.
It is a time to see things from different angles and in a brand new bright light. Shocking and illuminating things have been unveiled to us over the last several months and years. It is time to slow down and reevaluate, reexamine and face the truth so change can unfold.
The eclipse will last minutes wherever we are viewing it from. Mercury retrograde is only a phase. And, when, at last, September 5th hits, and mercury retrograde is over, things will be crystal clear and positively mind blowing, heading into the end of the year!
So, for the time being, instead of getting caught up in the frenetic energy, here are some tips to help you through this intense energy planet window, until it shifts on September 5th.
Be gentle and kind with yourself.
Remember your subconscious has no sense of humor.
Be mindful of what rolls off your tongue.
Skip and Dance.
Find your sense of humor (I know I have).
Smell the flowers – literally.
Listen to your body: if it needs to rest then slow down; if you are feeling the energy, get active.
Take a hot bath with lavender essential oils and sea salts. In fact, get out all your essential oils and take an inventory.
Get enough sleep.
Find your gratitude.
Eat some healthy chocolate.
This is a perfect time to write down what you would like for yourself and manifest it – remember to ask for what is in your best interest!
Even if you don’t have any crystals or believe, how about buying one and trying it just for the experience!
Drink fresh juices and eat clean food. Green foods are the best at this time (avocados, kale, cucumbers, celery).
Spend time in nature or in your garden or in a local park. Connect with the natural magic of life.
Do daily yoga.
Take a walk.
